THE SWEET TEA EXPERIENCE: RECORDING PHASE 1, March 16-23, 2011 2:09
This video encapsulates our experience recording Elegy Highway in Oxford, Ms at Sweet Tea with Dennis Herring producing and Will Cole engineering, March 16-23, 2011. The studio was opulent, intimidating and inspiring. Carlos and James, with some contributions from Mr. Herring, laid down all the basic tracks during a wild and panic-stricken week. There was a lot more footage, time-lapses and sound recordings of the experience but they were sadly lost in all the confusion and mayhem that followed.
THE LITTLE BOX EXPERIENCE: RECORDING PHASE 2, August 19-21, 2011 3:00
This video covers, in a manner, the second phase of recording of the string section, drum kit, big drum and bass as played by The Section Quartet, David Lovering of The Pixies and friend Dylan Howe on electric bass, respectively. It was accomplished at head Section Quarteter Eric Gorfain’s ‘Little Box Studios’ deep in the heart of Glendale, CA, August 19-21, 2011. Some friends came by and it was decided to record a version of “I’ve Been Working On The Railroad” for possible inclusion on the score. It was not.

THE SWEET TEA EXPERIENCE: MIXING PHASE 1, May 2012 1:47
Mixing proved to be a long and arduous process given the ambitions of the project, schedules of the principles and general circadian rhythms, but that is neither here nor there. The score is finished and this film feels like what it felt like to mix about eleven of the original scores’ twenty-seven tracks at Sweet Tea. Dennis is a master mixer and much taller in person.
