ASPHALT SERENADE will live score the classic French science-fiction short film, “La Jetee” with an original composition at Bar Redux in New Orleans, LA.  It marks the debut of the new core line-up of Carlos Grasso, Xandra Wong and Carter Lee Garrett.

DJ FLIMFLAM (aka Carlos Grasso) performs live electronics on a custom analog synth, plays a hand-built glass harp and spins vintage 78s as part of a DJ residency at Suis Generis restaurant and bar.  What could be better than a good brunch, low frequency oscillators and the scratchy sound of antique laquers?

SATURDAY , APRIL 9, 2016  9 – 11pm  Antennae Works: Signals
Two performances for Antennae Works: Signals live magazine variety show. Carlos will live score a short film, “Inconsiderable Fallout”, especially made for this event.  The film features photographs of late 1930s farm and plantation diorama at the Louisiana State Museum in Shreveport, La. Film, sound, live score, video, moon time-lapse, photographs, samples by Carlos Grasso.

The second of two performances is the debut of “Tiny Sounds”. Layering low level sounds, one at a time, created live and pre-recorded by Mr. Grasso, the resultant collage will end in acrescendo of noise music, delicate yet loud. Sounds include cat purrs, mosquitoes, breathing, water drops, tiny harmonica, etc. Film and sound by Carlos Grasso.

SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 14, 2015   8 – 11:30pm     Film scoring/screening at 10:30pm
ASPHALT SERENADE [solo version featuring Carlos Grasso] will live score a 17 minute film, “Asphalt Serenade:redux” and provide sound effects, electronics and glass harp for the “Flux Redux” event as part of the Faux Real Festival. A booth showing  short films and scores by Asphalt Serenade will also be on display. Flux Redux was curated by Carlos Grasso and will feature a plethora of performers, artists filmmakers and musicians in a variety show homage to the Fluxus, Dada and Surrealist movements.
