Maricela Lizarraga

Photo of an old woman sitting in a chair

This photograph of Maricela Lizarraga, holding an album of Bromo at work, was taken a few years after his death. Note her famous hair, a strand of which was used to record the tiny sounds of DNA by her beloved husband, Bromo. Maricela died in 1943 of love sickness. She worked tirelessly up to her death trying to convince the scientific community that Bromo had in fact discovered DNA. She refused to learn to speak any English because of the slight. Compiled by Carlos Grasso of Dumfuxx, 2004.
